Welcome

The Unit of Molecular Genetic Markers was created as a joint unit between the University of Córdoba and the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) in 1996. Today is attached to the Andalusian Plan for Research (PAIDI) as the Research Group AGR-231 Animal Breeding and Genomics.

Using approaches of functional genomics, the general objective of our Group is to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the immunological mechanisms that control host defenses against infectious diseases in domestic animals. In particular, work under our projects has significant focus on the design, development and optimization of high-throughput assays to be used in systems biology approaches to identify the molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions in the infections generated by Salmonella and Campylobacter. More specifically, we focus (1) on identifying Salmonella and host factors that play a role in bacterial persistence by favoring the long-term carriage of Salmonella in pigs, and (2) on establishing
